What Is The Longevity Institute?
The Longevity Institute is a membership-based healthspan program based in our Ocala clinic. Healthspan refers to the years you spend in good health, with the energy and function to live on your own terms. We follow each member over a full year and beyond, using objective measurements to decide what deserves protection and what deserves attention next.
It builds on our established age management in Ocala services and draws on many of them. Members join a continuous clinical relationship that runs on a 12-month cycle and renews with a fresh plan each year, so every year of care starts from what the previous one taught us.
The Program Sequence
Assess → Integrate → Blueprint → Implement → Measure → Adjust → Reassess → Renew
Each step feeds the next, and your annual reassessment becomes the starting line for year two.

Why Does Healthspan Deserve Its Own Plan?
Several of the markers that predict how well you will age rarely appear in a standard checkup. Muscle strength is a good example. In the PURE study published in The Lancet, which followed nearly 140,000 adults across 17 countries, every 5 kg drop in grip strength was linked to a 16% higher risk of death from any cause. Grip strength also predicted mortality more reliably than systolic blood pressure.
Cardiorespiratory fitness and lean muscle mass tell a similar story. Both respond to the right intervention at almost any age. We measure them at the start and compare them side by side at your annual reassessment, so progress is something you can see on paper.

How Do the 4 Major Pillars Guide Your Care?
Every Healthspan Blueprint looks at four core areas: Hormones, Metabolism, Movement and Nutrition. Each pillar carries a status that reflects your needs today. An Active pillar has a defined goal and a scheduled measurement. A pillar in Maintenance has already reached a good place and is protected with lighter monitoring, which keeps your plan focused on what will make the biggest difference right now.
How Every Active Pillar Works
Goal → Action → Measure → Evaluate
Our team calls it G-A-M-E. You always know what you are working on and how your progress will be judged.
Hormones
Hormonal shifts affect sleep, mood, body composition and bone health, often before a routine panel flags anything. When therapy is clinically appropriate, Dr. Turner may start or adjust individualized treatment, including bioidentical hormone replacement therapy in Ocala or testosterone replacement therapy in Ocala. Targeted labs about six weeks after any change confirm how your body is responding. Women curious about their options can read our guide to HRT for women.
Metabolism
This pillar covers weight, insulin resistance, blood sugar and cardiometabolic risk, with one firm priority: losing fat while keeping the lean muscle that protects you later in life. Plans may include structured medical weight loss in Ocala with medication when indicated, paired with regular body composition analysis in Ocala on the InBody scanner. Each scan shows exactly where your changes are coming from.
Movement
Aerobic fitness, strength, mobility and balance are among the most modifiable predictors of long-term independence. Your baseline PNOE VO2 Max test shows how efficiently your body uses oxygen under exertion, and grip strength offers a quick read on overall muscular health. From those results you receive a practical exercise prescription, followed by a check-in two to four weeks later to make sure it fits your real schedule.
Nutrition
Nutrition carries equal weight with the other pillars, and every recommendation is tied to a measurable objective such as a lower A1c or more lean muscle. Members usually work on a handful of concrete, sustainable changes at a time, with support from our nutrition counseling in Ocala team. Supplements are recommended when there is a clear clinical reason for them.
What Happens Before You Meet With Dr. Turner?
Dr. Turner prefers to walk into your first visit already knowing your story. Before the Comprehensive Healthspan Visit, you complete a detailed health history questionnaire along with your baseline testing. You also sign releases so our team can gather records from your other physicians.
Much of this testing builds on our established lab testing in Ocala, which several long-time patients have described as more detailed than anything they received elsewhere.
Advanced Laboratory Panel

Why it matters: Sets your starting point and can reveal risks a routine panel misses.
InBody Body Composition

Why it matters: Shows whether weight changes come from fat or from muscle.
PNOE VO2 Max Assessment
What it measures: Aerobic capacity and metabolic efficiency.

Records From Your Physicians
What it measures: Results and notes from the other doctors who care for you.
Why it matters: Signed releases let our team gather them, so nothing important is missed.
How Is Your Healthspan Blueprint Built?
After the visit, Dr. Turner integrates your exam findings and test results into a written strategic plan. It is organized around four sections:
- Preserve. The strengths and habits already serving you well, so they stay protected.
- Improve. Your highest-priority opportunities, ranked by the impact they can have.
- Measure & Refine. The specific numbers and targets that will show what is working.
- Live. What better health will let you keep doing, from long trips to long afternoons on the golf course.
You and Dr. Turner review the proposed Blueprint together and agree on your first 90 days of priorities. Within 72 hours, our care team turns those priorities into scheduled follow-ups and orders, so implementation starts while your motivation is high.
A Blueprint in practice (illustrative sample): One sample member described her reason for joining as wanting “to travel with my husband, play golf, enjoy my grandchildren, and remain confidently independent.” Her first 90-day plan paired twice-weekly resistance training with a daily protein target, and each action was linked to a number she could track, such as waist measurement and A1c.

What Does Your First Year Look Like?
Your 12-month implementation year begins on the day your Blueprint is activated. Follow-up is scheduled around your plan, so every appointment has a clear purpose.
- Weeks 2 to 4. An implementation check confirms you have started the plan and catches early barriers.
- Around week 6. Targeted labs, most often after starting or changing hormone therapy.
- Every quarter. A Healthspan Review with Dr. Turner, preceded by fresh measurements so he enters the room already knowing your progress.
- Month 12. Your Annual Reassessment, where repeat testing is compared with your baseline before the Blueprint is renewed for year two.

Who Keeps Your Plan Moving Between Visits?
Dr. Turner concentrates his time where physician judgment matters most: your initial assessment, Blueprint development, quarterly reviews and any decision outside the established plan. Between those milestones, an APRN leads your day-to-day implementation with support from our nursing and clinical staff.
New symptoms or unexpected results go straight to Dr. Turner for review instead of waiting for the next quarterly visit. When the hurdle is practical, like an exercise schedule that clashes with your workday, we adjust the plan with you.
Our Standard
A member should never have to manage the program for us.
You should never need to remember which test is due or chase down a result. That coordination is part of what membership provides.

Is The Longevity Institute a Good Fit for You?
Our program suits adults who want a long-term medical partner and are ready to act on a plan they help create. Our program complements your primary care physician and specialists, who remain an important part of your care. Our clinic on SE 18th Street is a short drive for members in Ocala and The Villages.
Members often arrive with goals like these:
- Staying strong enough to travel freely and keep up with grandchildren.
- Finally understanding lab results that have been labeled "borderline" for years.
- Losing fat in midlife while protecting muscle.
- Managing hormone changes with careful, measured monitoring.

Frequently Asked Questions About The Longevity Institute
We work alongside your primary care physician and any specialists you see. Our focus is healthspan planning, and we encourage every member to keep up with their existing primary and specialty care.
Hormone therapy is one option within our program, used only when it is clinically appropriate. Many members keep their Hormones pillar in Maintenance while they focus on metabolism or movement.
Many members notice early shifts in energy or body composition within the first few months, although results vary from person to person. Quarterly reviews track those changes objectively, and the Annual Reassessment compares every baseline measurement with where you are a year later.
Baseline testing is split across short appointments, with the PNOE VO2 Max test taking about an hour. The Comprehensive Healthspan Visit with Dr. Turner lasts around 60 minutes, and the Blueprint Conference follows in a separate 30-minute appointment.
Membership fees are separate from insurance and are generally not billed to your plan. Laboratories and outside specialists may bill you or your insurer directly.
The first step is a Discovery conversation, a relaxed talk with our team about your goals and how membership works. There is no obligation to enroll.
